Stems...a Garden Soiree
invites artists to join us in celebrating the
First Annual Stems Plein Air Event
June 5-19, 2009
at the Overland Park Arboretum.
With over 300 Acres of beautiful scenery to choose from, from Monet’s Garden to woodlands trails, all artists are sure to find the perfect spot at the Arboretum for inspiration. At that time in the early summer, artists can expect to see much of the park’s foliage in bloom, making it all the more inviting! Plein Air artists of all experience levels are invited and encouraged to come and paint during the event.
Cash prizes totaling over $2500 will be awarded in different media and top winners will be allowed to have their pieces in the Silent Auction the night of the event, June 27, 2009. A larger group of pieces will also be selected to be offered for sale at the event. Artists whose works are juried in for the sale will be asked to be in attendance for the night of the event.
You must be officially registered with Stems and have your canvases stamped prior to painting to participate in the judging/jurying process. Judging for awards, prize money and jurying for the Plein Air Tent the night of the show will take place the weekend prior to the event and will include an artist’s reception and show at a local gallery space. Our judging panel will consist of prestigious art connoisseurs and high profile experienced collectors.
A portion of all sales from the silent auction and the Plein Air tent sales will be donated to the event with the remainder going directly to the artist.
Following your registration, you will receive, via email, further details and instructions about check-in and site restrictions, as well as a map of the Arboretum with suggested painting locations.
ALL ARTISTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REGISTER EARLY AS SPACE MAY BE LIMITED
